Today, the Mikron’s core business comprises two divisions which are the result of acquisitions made in the course of Mikron’s history.

Haesler SA, Le Locle / Boudry
The Haesler engineering works was established by Charles Léon Haesler at Le Locle, Switzerland, in 1918. In 1925, Haesler designed one of the first transfer machines for the watchmaking industry, which at that stage was a bold and pioneering venture. Haesler sold most of his machines abroad until he managed to break into the Swiss market in the mid-1940s. The company relocated to Boudry, Switzerland, in 1958 and joined the Mikron Group in 1962.

Albe SA, Lugano-Viganello / Agno
The Albe Machine Factory was established by Sauro Albertini and Guido Bertoglio at Lugano-Viganello, Switzerland, in 1953. At the end of the 1950s, Albe’s automatic indexing tables played a major part in the global breakthrough of the ballpoint pen. Albe was the supplier of choice to companies such as Parker, Waterman and PaperMate in the US. In 1965, Albe moved to Agno, Switzerland, and became part of the Mikron Group in 1986.
