The world of drilling turned on its head: a flexible carbide micro drill
Drilling in a range from 0.1 to 1.2 mm with depths up to 30 x d and this with a high process reliability – that’s unmatched! Up to now, only spark erosion and to a certain extent also deep hole drilling processes manage such operations, but at a much lower speed. Mikron Tool SA Agno, a Switzerland based company, is THE expert for micro drilling. CrazyDrill Flex, the revolutionary new development will be presented for the first time at the worlds leading exhibition for metal cutting, the EMO in Hanover.

Extensive visitor interest in Mikron’s new machining system

Participation in this year’s metal working exhibition, the EMO 2011 in Hanover, was a huge success for Mikron Machining. At the centre of the presentation was the new developed machining system Multistar NX-24. Presented under the heading “The best of productivity with CNC flexibility”, a machining concept was introduced, which combines highest productivity with good flexibility and highest precision. The quality of the contacts made was exceptional.

Parliamentary visit
Committee for Economic Affairs visits Mikron in Agno
On 24 May 2011, the Swiss Parliament's Committee for Economic Affairs, headed by Dick Marty, Ticino Member of the Council of States and member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, visited Mikron’s site in Agno. The guests were welcomed by Bruno Cathomen, COO of Mikron Machining. Following the plant tour, there was a lively discussion on the quality of Switzerland and Ticino as a site for business.

Distinction
Mikron apprentice gets best marks as polymechanic
Mikron apprentice Fabrizio Bozzetto has received an award for achieving the best marks in the final examination for apprentice polymechanic with an average of 5.2. The award was presented by AMETI, the metalworking industry association of Italian-speaking Switzerland, which honours the best graduate apprentices from its member companies every year. Fabrizio Bozzetto completed his four-year apprenticeship as a polymechanic at Mikron SA Agno, where today he is developing his skills further in the Mikron Training Team.

100 trainees visiting Mikron SA in Agno.
At the beginning of November, about 100 trainees from the precision turned-parts manufacturer Berger Präzisionsdrehteile GmbH of Ottobeuren (Germany) visited Mikron SA in Agno. The third- and fourth-year trainee machinists and commercial apprentices were given a comprehensive insight into how Mikron produces its machining systems and highly specialized cutting tools.

Exhibition for Metal Working - AMB 2010 in Stuttgart
Extensive visitor interest in Mikron’s “new” machining center
Participation in this year’s metal working exhibition, the AMB 2010 in Stuttgart, was a huge success for Mikron Machining. At the centre of the presentation was the further development of the Multistep XT-200 machining system. Presented under the heading “Advantage through modularity”, a machine concept was introduced which captured the essence of the era. Attendees visiting the booth displayed serious interest. The quality of the contacts made was exceptional.

AMETIADI 2010 with 13 Swiss Italian companies
On September 4th 2010 about 300 participants with their families coming from 13 Swiss Italian companies met in Tenero (Switzerland) for the friendly tournament „AMETIADI 2010“. It is already the 5th edition organized by Mikron SA Agno for the enterprises affiliated to the “Associazione Industrie Metalmeccaniche Ticinesi”.
