Your main tasks

The Senior Applications Engineer develops detailed proposals for complex automation equipment and supports the sales team to present the concepts to customers. The Senior Applications Engineer possesses extensive knowledge and experience of concepting automated equipment, customer base, types of products, and integrated process. This role is critical in supporting Mikron growth and stability by actively helping to secure new projects while ensuring technical and commercial viability of the systems being sold.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of Customer Requests for Quote

    -Review customer specifications, drawings, models, and components to develop an     assembly machine concept based on Mikron standard assembly platforms
    -Determine customer requirements and sales strategy with Key Accounts Managers and Applications Engineering Manager
    -Provide customers with product design support to improve the assembly process
     
  • System Concepting and Preparation of Deliverables to Customer

      -Develop detailed automated assembly system concepts
      -Consultation and collaboration with internal engineering leads to address specific design concerns or issues to ensure appropriate concept and pricing
      -Produce AutoCAD 2D layouts and Inventor 3D models to support sales process
      -Third party systems specifications and pricing through direct contact with suppliers
      -Detailed project cost estimates as the basis for the sales price
      -Technical PowerPoint presentations
      -Preparation of proposal document defining complete project scope including technical  detail of system, pricing, and scheduling
      -Participate in internal meetings for agreement of technical content and pricing
     
  • Technical Support for Key Accounts Managers in Customer Meetings and Presentations

      -Regular communication with the customer during the proposal phase
      -Collaboration with other Engineers as necessary
      -Present solutions to customers as part of the Sales team
      -Sales calls with the Key Account Managers to provide detailed automation knowledge in their consulting and selling efforts
     
  • Technical Support Internal to Applications Department

      -Serves as a mentor to other Applications Engineers
      -May participate in challenging technical concepts and pricing of other Applications  Engineers
      -Contributes to department continuous improvement projects related to tools, processes, and professional development
     
  • After Sales Support of Operations

      -Hand-off the project to the operations staff at the project kickoff meeting.
      -Be a consultant to the operations staff during the project phase while gathering feedback on quote accuracy for improvement
     
  • Reporting

      -Updating CRM (salesforce) to track customer opportunity information
      -Maintaining records of proposal process, key milestones, and decisions
      -Contribute to department continuous improvement projects

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, & Skills

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience an engineering position with a mechanical focus
  • (Preferred) Industrial automation experience
  • (Preferred) Medical/pharmaceutical manufacturing industry knowledge
  • (Preferred) Software experience: AutoCAD, 3D CAD (Inventor preferred, SolidWorks, Creo), PDM/PLM, salesforce

Additional Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • Must be able to travel as requested
  • Must be available to work overtime
  • May be required to work off shift hours and Holidays
  • Willing and able to travel 10% of the year, including travel with little to no notice
  • Must have a valid state Driver's license

Pay Range

  • $95,000 - $118,000 per year
