Tools Engineering Specialist
Duties
Responsible for the technical and commercial preparation of proposals for tool engineering projects and customer specific cutting tools. Manage technical order management and provide technical customer support and application consultancy for standard and special cutting tools. Additional specific duties will include: (1) assist in the design of customer application-specific cutting tools under collaboration with the tool factories of Mikron in Europe; (2) study and define working cycles for tools, cutting parameters, and cutting tool geometries; (3) organize and implement cutting tool trials at the machine in the field; (4) process specific customer complaints and implement corrective actions; (5) evaluate and certify material/tools returns; (6) calculate tool pricing for special tools, submittal of quotes to customers; (7) monitor and manage communications between Mikron, the customer, the local Sales Representative; (8) manage communications between the local distributor and the factories in Switzerland and Germany; (9) maintain the company’s internal technical library and database; (10) manage and train back office technicians; and (11) manage inside technical aspects for NS Tool and other partners in USA.
Minimum Requirements
This position requires 7 years of experience in related technical and engineering positions. Must be able to speak and write fluently in Italian to communicate with tool designers/programmers/CAD drawers in Mikron’s affiliate offices and reselling facilities. Must also have 12 months of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) with each of the following: (1) Preparing technical and commercial proposals for tool engineering projects and customer specific cutting tools; (2) Managing technical order management and providing technical customer support and application consultancy for standard and special cutting tools; (3) Working with CNC Grinding Machines and understanding tool grinding capabilities; and (4) Providing live machining support onsite at customer locations. Full-time, position located in Monroe, CT. 50% domestic and 15% international travel required to meet with Mikron colleagues and provide machining support to customers.
