EMO 2019: Strong showing with three pioneering machining systems – from highly productive to highly flexible

Agno, October 2019 – First prize for outstanding innovations in the machine tools category and a huge visitor attraction: Mikron's showing at EMO 2019 proved a great success. Despite the prevailing global economic uncertainty, the exhibition attracted visitors from all over the world to Germany. 

Mikron enthralled the trade audience at the EMO Hanover (September 16-21, 2019) with no fewer than three pioneering innovations. The Mikron stand covered the entire spectrum of production solutions. Prospects interested in highly productive machining systems were given a first-hand introduction to the Mikron Multistar CX-24 and Mikron MultiX platform. Anyone on the lookout for products in the machining center segment found a solution fit for the future in the Mikron 6x6, the modular machine tool system with fully integrated automation.

Mikron innovations also attracted a lot of attention at the fair. With an exceptionally high proportion of prospective customers from Europe and Asia, this year's trade audience was more international than in the past. It goes without saying that a particular highlight for Mikron was winning the EMO Innovations Award 2019 (see below).

And the prize goes to: Mikron MultiX

Among Mikron's successes was the innovative Mikron MultiX. The configurable platform can be consistently tailored to customers' needs. Easily retoolable, the Mikron MultiX offers unique machining solutions for the production of anything from 50 to 5,000,000 parts. A chance to experience a virtual demonstration of the configuration options close-up at the stand was a big hit with visitors. The expert jury too was completely won over by the world first: After evaluating the products of 2100 exhibitors, leading machine industry trade journal "MM MaschinenMarkt" awarded the first prize for outstanding innovations in the machine tools category to Mikron for the Mikron MultiX rotary transfer machine.

Configurability plus perfectly integrated automation: Mikron 6x6 once again a huge draw

The Mikron 6x6 continued to kindle interest among industry insiders. The individually configurable single and dual-spindle machining center offers 102 different combinations and can be perfectly assembled for any machining scenario. The 100 percent integrated automation was completely in sync with EMO trends in the automated segment. One of the main features of the Mikron 6x6 is optimum unlimited access to all of the machine's key components for setting up, measuring and servicing – even with integrated automation. An additional plus is the extremely user-friendly programming of automation and machining.

The modular system is predestined for the efficient machining of high-quality steel, cast or light metal parts. Other compelling arguments for the Mikron 6x6 are its utmost precision and the tightest of tolerances in a wide range of sectors. Its compact construction also facilitates high production capacity on a very small area – saving both costs and energy.

Optimized for the future: the Mikron Multistar CX-24

As precise, fast and flexible as ever, the new Mikron Multistar CX-24 with its re-optimized ergonomics and compact design has much to offer – including a reduction (of up to 25 percent) in the space it requires. Where much greater flexibility is called for, a hybrid version with up to 20 CNC axes is available. The rotary transfer machine can produce fully finished simple or complex turned and milled parts in one single clamping operation, including in batches running into the millions.

Service

Mikron's total commitment to service provision was underlined by two pioneering service products shown at the EMO fair: The miS4.0 module allows machine operators to fully monitor both machine and production. The module collects data, surveils performance and machine status and predicts when maintenance work will be necessary. Mikron also raised the service bar with its "Augmented Connection" solution. A virtual connection via smart glasses or an app gives technicians and help desk experts direct remote viewing access to the machine in real time. Mechanical and electrical faults can be readily rectified in real-time visual collaboration.
